Herb of the month:  Motherwort

Latin Name: Leonurus  | Vibe Check: Emotional support, hormone balance, heart-soothing energy Why I Keep Her Around Motherwort is like that no nonsense auntie who doesn’t sugarcoat a thing but always shows up when you need her. She’s bitter, yup. But she’s grounding, comforting, and will pull you out of a hormonal meltdown real quick.I reach for her when my chest feels tight, I’m overwhelmed for no reason, or my cycle’s doing the most.

She’s not the sweet herb—but she’s the strong one.

How I Use It:•

Tincture – A few drops when I’m anxious or my heart feels like it’s racing through a to-do list of emotions•

Herbal tea – When I’m in the mood to sip and slow down (she’s bitter, but blends beautifully with lemon balm or oatstraw )

• Not for taste she’s for transformation. For My Fellow Mamas: Motherwort didn’t get her name by chance. She’s known for mothers and the mothered. She steps in when you’re overstimulated, anxious, trying to pour from an empty cup, or just need 5 minutes without being needed. Postpartum emotions, hormonal chaos, mental spirals she understands. To me, she feels like a mother’s hug when you’re about to break down but don’t want to cry in front of everybody. She holds space for you to unravel and put yourself back together.I call her my ‘check yourself’ herb. Because she will. She’s helped me breathe through tension, catch my attitude before it jumps, and feel grounded when my hormones are hormonal. She’s not sweet, but she’s real. Just like motherhood.
